Unless you go to Wisconsin or are willing to shop the expensive case in the deli, you won't find the real stuff anymore. But it is so much better!
I didn't have a clue that the same dynamic existed for chocolate. Thanks for the information.About Mehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11750216202890211361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4183381623141443317.post-60489486357273479012009-06-26T13:41:48.415-04:002009-06-26T13:41:48.415-04:00Thanks, Cybele - you're just such a candy godd...Thanks, Cybele - you're just such a candy goddess I figured you MUST have coined it!!Denise Ryanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09706395088854291544noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4183381623141443317.post-29561197858139276312009-06-25T23:29:21.620-04:002009-06-25T23:29:21.620-04:00That's sweet of you to credit me for the term ...That's sweet of you to credit me for the term Mockolate but I actually co-opted it from an episode of Friends. (The product there was even worse.)

I agree that some things can work with non-cocoa butter products - I absolutely adore Goldbenberg's Peanut Chews. But I bet they'd be better with real chocolate. And I would certainly resent paying real chocolate prices and getting ook.

(Also, there's a lot of info going around about how bad palm oil is for you compared to cocoa butter ... not that we're eating chocolate for our health.)cybelehttp://www.typetive.com/candyblognoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4183381623141443317.post-3722417311217189402009-06-25T18:35:50.899-04:002009-06-25T18:35:50.899-04:00Carl - you are the man!! No way am I ever eating that!" Then people tried it and liked it and it's been a hip thing for quite a long time now.

This is going to be the same way. Chocolate candy may not be everyone's cup of tea but it works great in many applications. I think it's like calling a Chianti a Merlot. A real taste expert may be able to tell the difference in a blind taste test but most of us would say it was a decent glass of vino.

Most people will not be able to taste the difference unless they are told what to look for in the taste. And most of us won't care. Let's be honest about it. We eat candy because it tastes great and makes us feel good. It is a time-honored staple in the pantry of our lives. These products that use chocolate candy still do that. So what's the problem?

We need only look as far as the great musician and philosopher Dizzy Gillespie, who said of music, "If it sounds good, it is good." I say that if it tastes good, it is good.Carl Weaverhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13709697747981886634noreply@blogger.com
